OLLU Computer Lab Use

Any currently enrolled student or OLLU alumni can use the OLLU computing facilities. Begining in September 2005, anyone wishing to use the labs must have a log on ID and password to use a computer.  In general, the labs can not be used by non-OLLU personnel unless they have been authorized to do so.   As long as individuals remain students or employees of OLLU, they can continue using the labs. Within 2 months of graduating or otherwise leaving OLLU, an individual's account will be terminated and he or she will no longer be able to use the labs. Students breaking the rules of the labs or misusing their computer account can have their privilege to an account suspended or revoked.

Dedicated "Student-Use" Labs

In an effort to ensure that OLLU students have access to computing resources, two labs have been designated for "student-use only".

These labs are the Grossman Lab, located in Main 208 and Library 111.

Students can count on having access to these labs from 8:00 AM-9:00 PM seven days a week(hours may vary for holidays and events).

Instructional Computer Labs

The other six labs (Main 240, Information Skills, Jersig, Worden, St. Martin Hall, Science, Library 103) are available for student use, but priority for the use of these labs is given to classroom instruction. For this reason, the schedule for access to these labs is not set until class schedules have been finalized.

Printing Services

All of the labs are equipped with black and white laser printers. There is currently no limit to black and white printing in any of the labs for currently enrolled OLLU students

Color printing services are also available in the two "student-use" labs (Grossman and Library 111).

Because of the high cost of color printing cartridges, a limit of up to 25 color pages per month per student is in place. If needed, additional color printing services can be purchased. Every student can access information related to their color printing balance and stats by using the "PaperCut" URL located on the desktop on every lab computer.

ADA Considerations

Every computer lab on campus has at least one workstation designated as an ADA workstation.

Workstations in this category have been set-up with furniture which meets ADA requirements for access.

Specialized screen viewing software (Zoom Text) is installed on all ADA-designated computers. Audio headsets are also provided at these workstations to allow for programs which aid in sound reproduction for hearing-disabled computer users.

Reserving a Computer Lab

Computer lab reservations are handled via the OLLU UNet Intranet using Web Requester. This online process simplifies the scheduling of computer lab and other university resources. Reservations can also be made by calling the Help Desk Lab Manager at 434-6677 (ext.2236).

Computer Lab Problems

Most of the OLLU computer labs are staffed by lab monitors. Computer lab monitors are available to assist students with any hardware or software issues that may occur in the lab. If a lab monitor is not available, students should contact the OLLU Help Desk for assistance.
